    Next week 1st thoughts

    Div 1

    #16 Holston @ #1 Galax - Galax may actualy get worse playing this one
    #9 Rye Cove @ #8 Castlewood - Got to love the district rematchs Castlewood says that they should have treated the 1st RC game like a playoff now they get there chance

    #15 Twin Springs @ #2 George Wythe - TS will just be trying to stay healthy in this one
    #10 Thomas Walker @ #7 Radford - TW could sneak up on Radford but in the end Radford is more battle tested

    #14 Eastside @ #3 Clintwood - Eastside(Coeburn) Dropping Cwood forcing them to pick up Hazard probably cost Clintwood the #1 seed this year this one may get ugly FAST
    #11 Chilhowie @ #6 Rural Retreat- Another reg season rematch....RR is just flat better and will make for one of the better 2nd round matchups at Clintwood

    #13 Hurley @ #4 Honaker - Another rematch Could be a good one But Honaker seems to be clicking well right now
    #12 Haysi @ #5 John I. Burton - Interesting matchup....Haysi COULD pull it out but Burton has been here ALOT over the last 10 years and the experance will shine

    Div. 2

    #16 Va. High @ #1 Riverheads - VHS is a smallish team River head is power all the way
    #9 Union @ #8 Stuarts Draft - IDK anythink other that SD sounds like a beer LOL......GO LPD

    #15 Graham @ #2 Grayson Co. - Rematch!!! It was the Graham game that Grayson lost several of there starters which may give Grayson extra modavation
    #10 Dan River @ #7 Gate City - this looks like a AA matchup from a few years ago LOL.....GC had 2 RB banged up last night (1 appeared to be done for the season) if GC can overcome the injurys there D is good enough to keep them in any game

    * #14 Grundy,@ #3 Appomattox - Grundy struggled with a 0-10 team last week......That is all
    * #11 Central (Wise) @ #6 Wilson Memorial - I know nothing about WM but I am an LPD homer

    * #13 Glenvar @ #4 Giles - SHould be a good matchup
    * #12 John Battle @ #5 Gretna - IDK but cant see Gretna loseing

    Burton at Honaker and RR at Cwood (if they win) should be 2 dandy games

    From the looks at the tackle that took Bird from GC out..I'd say he done for the year..It was nasty to watch his leg bend the way it did..

    If both coaches agree to play on Saturday then game can be on Saturday. Evidently Dante Lee forgot the reason Region D went to Sat afternoon back in 1986 when there was about 300 people at Appy for a playoff game against Pound, it was in the low twenties - teens that night.

    Stuarts Draft has a 7-3 record. Sounds good but the 7 wins come to loosing record schools. The only winning record school that SD beat is Fort Defiance (6-4) by a 26-21 margin, all the other schools were loosing record schools with a couple 5-5 teams. Luray was the only big win for SD and Luray is 1-9. Wilson Memorial beat SD 10 to 15 in what was probably a good game. Riverheads throttled SD but Riverheads throttle most teams they play.
    Wilson Memorial has no impressive victories with losses to Rober E Lee (Stanton) (6-4) and Riverheads (10-0). Despite Stuarts Draft (7-3) nobody on Wilson Memorial's schedule has a winning record. Stonewall (5-5) is the only big win for Wilson Memorial over a team that is better than 1-9.
    I know records Dont mean much but to me it gives a halfway good idea of how a team plays. For example, Union has not blown anyone off the field at all, but has solid wins over good opponents and solid losses over better opponents. Union only has 2 teams with loosing records on their schedule (Lee and Lebanon) and hasnt lost to anyone with a loosing record. Union has a State rating (not rank) of 45 Off Rating 47 and Deff Rating 41. SD has a State Rating of 51 Off Rating 44 and Deff Rating 39. Crunch these numbers and this could be one exciting ballgame with low scores and good defense.
    Wilson Memorial has a State Rating of 54 Off Rating 53 Deff Rating 56 and Central has a State Rating of 38 Off Rating 41 Deff Rating 14. By these numbers, Central is the better team. Centrals Record has their 4 losses coming to winning schools and quality schools at that.
    Im not sure what style O or D Stuarts Draft or Wilson Memorial runs but according to these numbers Union and Central should come out on top of these games, that is if these games were computer played. All in all, looking at what we know of Union and Central the Jekyl and Hyde affect can hurt or help either of these teams. If the Central team that beat Union, Lee, and Thomas Walker, shows up then its a win for the warriors but if the Central that lost to Clintwood, and JIB shows up its gonna be a long game for em.
    As far as Union is concerned, its going to take the Union that has battled out good solid fun to watch wins to come away with a victory and not the Union that lost games they should have won.
